This extension was needed to provide a much needed larger kitchen, downstairs toilet and to add a master bedroom and ensuite upstairs. The existing house had a tiny galley kitchen & a small, tired main bathroom upstairs, which both desperately needed replacing.

The solution was to build over the existing one storey garage & to build a two storey extension at the rear of the existing property also. This involved extending the existing main roof & changing the hipped roof to a gable enabling us to provide more height & to create a feature triangle window to the master bedroom.

We also stepped the first floor rear extension in, to create the orangery style glass roof feature to the kitchen, which adds so much light into the space & moved the main bathroom to the front of the house, enabling us to use the whole of the rear extension for the master bedroom and use the existing bathroom footprint for the ensuite & a built in wardrobe.

The project was on a tight budget and so we kept the external material choices simple to match the existing property, adding dark grey PVC windows to the side & rear only to add a more contemporary appearance.
